I like it, for what it is,

I bought this for what it is, a discreet and QUICK way to light up. Good for sneaking it basically anywhere. You can literally take a good hit in 5 seconds and have it back in your pocket. In fact I wouldn’t leave it lit for more then 5 seconds, cause you will go though more tobacco then you need to. While it looks odd, it functions well. It has a good heft to it, it doesn’t feel cheap. If you figure out how to use it, it should serve you well young Skywalker. It basically has 4 parts.
The bottom is the lighter, it is actually pretty powerful jet flame lighter. It is refillable, if you get it shipped it will be empty or almost empty, be sure to recharge it to full. Any smoke shop will sell the butane. Turn the pipe upside down, put the can upside down on the lighter nub and push. It has a recessed flame adjuster. To adjust it, basically turn it up till you get a jet flame, then back it down until just before the jet won’t stay lit. (I’ll go over actual lighting below)
The next part of the tube screws over the lighter flame and has a screen lodged in it at about the middle point. This forms the bottom of the chamber. You put the tobacco in here. But first you will want to get a fine mesh screen and shove it over the rather large spaced screen that it comes with. This will help not only keep the tobacco in the pipe better, but will dissipate the jet flame a bit.
Next part is a another small tube with a carbon filter, forms the top of the chamber. I also put a screen over the carbon filter, (between the tobacco and the carbon filter), to keep soot from going any further.
The last is the mouth piece, it is a plastic rubber material. No mod needed, I did consider putting a filter in here, but it would dilute the tobacco too much imo. My worry was that this is such a short pipe that the smoke would be too hot, which it could be, but not if you follow proper smoking technique.
So at the bottom it has a ignition button and a double gas release switch. To light it you switch the gas release on, and then press the ignition button. You get a quick blue jet flame which if there is tobacco in the chamber will immediately start to burn. So the proper technique is, flip the gas release switch, bring it to your lips, press the ignition button and inhale right away, after a second you flip the gas release off, and keep inhaling till done. (maybe two seconds, but really a second is all you need, the jet flame is no joke) It kind of seems complicated at first, but it is easy to switch off, it is one of those that it is harder to switch on then to switch it off – you just lightly touch it to turn off.
Depending on how well you pack it, this can hold quite a bit. You can basically pack the top and bottom chambers, comparable to two large bowls worth I’d say. Also, as long as the flame goes out in a second or two, you won’t waste alot of smoke – if any.
So to recap, fill it with butane, add a couple fine screens (I like brass), load you tobacco in the chamber, push the gas release on, bring to lips, ignite, inhale, flip off gas, keep inhaling, exhale, repeat.
What this isn’t – the perfect way to smoke. The smoke doesn’t have a lot of time to cool, so it will be a little harsher then other ways. So don’t use this unless you have to. But still, the opportunities are endless. Clubs, holiday parties with relatives, dog parks, porta-potties, basically any where you wouldn’t whip out a pipe or rolling papers.
