Before the Mass was scheduled to begin, we watched in amusement as two young altar servers struggled to get one of the extremely tall candles to light. With five burning brightly, the sixth refused to catch fire. They finally fetched a step ladder to be able to better control the wick they used to light the candles – and were able to get it to light.
