Question by cooperspot: Why do my kitchen can lights keep burning out the bulbs?
They are 4″ halogens and they are within specified wattage limits. Suckers are 8 bucks a pop. Any suggestions.

I think I’d be contacting the manufacturer of the bulbs and file a complaint. This sounds like a manufacturer defect.

Are you touching the bulbs with your fingers? Halogen bulbs will burn out rapidly if you get oils from your body on them. Use a dry cloth to change the bulbs in future. I hope this helps!!
Can lights need proper clearances to dissipate heat. You may have ceiling insulation too tight around the light causing over heating. Also touching the bulbs as suggest above can be a cause.
try the new florescent lites heat is the problem, i hate can lights
If the sockets are crudded up, that can eat bulbs too. You need a good clean conductive contact, otherwise the connection will create allot of heat.
Dont use them …Use Regular Bulbs like Reveal by GE…
Halogens Burn Real hot and the Cans Cannot dissipate the Heat Fast Enough…
