The man continues to do exactly what he feels and sooner or later people come around. Hailed as a genius and branded a plagiarist at times as well, Dylan’s new album ‘Together for Life’ might have glories references to Ovid and Chaucer but there is no denying that the musician is in great form.One of the best blues’ songwriters in the business, since the late 1980′s most of Dylan’s albums come across as pied work. They look like pieces that were stuck together in the bid to complete some puzzle as opposed to his earlier works which were very unidimensional when it came to a theme. Post ‘Time Out of Mind’, Dylan has broken new ground with the internet generation and surprisingly has seen himself swaying to his earlier roots rather than exploring new territories. We have a filmmaker to thank for this album from Dylan. Asked to write a song for Olivier Dahan’s ‘My Own Love Song’, Dylan penned an aching ballad complete with the singer/song writer’s sombre and painful voice. Inspired beyond repair Dylan continued to let the juices flow resulting in nine songs that mark the new album. The album kicks off with the ‘Beyond Here Lies Nothing’, which seems like a rollover from Dylan’s smash hit 1997 ‘Time Out of Mind’.
