Decorating bedrooms with white headboards can be an affordable and appealing option. Furnishings to be proud of are the dream of most people, rich or poor, we all like to live in an attractively decorated home so bedrooms tend to get a lot of attention, not because we spend a lot of time in them, but because it’s important to rest when we are in them.
White headboards make an attractive feature in any bedroom, and look especially good against a dark feature wall, perhaps with a favorite picture above them. Available in padded or solid styles, a white headboard has the advantage that it can be much taller than usual without detracting from the aesthetics of the room. A range of fabrics, from cotton, vinyl, leather, and more are offered by bedroom furniture stores.
Home redecorating is much more than just choosing new curtains or carpets, and goes way beyond a lick of paint. Furnishings are in many cases more important, it is the bed that we sleep on for many hours of the day, the headboard we may lean against, and all need to be comfortable. Whilst replacing a bed may be an expensive option, the addition of white headboards is much more affordable and gives an instant result.
Choosing white headboards for bedrooms are not always a wise choice if a lot of time is spent in bed. Grease from hair and body can affect the color of the headboard, and may be difficult to clean. Scotchguarding your new headboard should always be considered, or if the bed is used a lot, perhaps consider vinyl or leather instead of fabric, they are easier to clean if they become discolored.
White bedroom decor is modern and contemporary, and gives a room a light airy feeling. People who entertain a lot, and of course like to show off their decorating prowess will love white headboards because they draw the eye to the center of the room allowing guests to really appreciate their choice.
Major home decorating magazines and TV lifestyle programs have featured homes with white in the bedroom. White isn’t just a flat boring color, it can be used with great effect as an accent to contrast with darker colors such as purple or blue, or perhaps to help lift lighter colors such as light greens and pinks. A bed with white headboard, but dark colored duvet cover and shaded pillows, surrounded by white or lighter colored rugs can look spectacular.
Oriental themed bedrooms lend themselves to white headboards owing to their use of black as main color, remembering that Ying and Yang are represented by the colors black and white. Bringing harmony to the bedroom can be challenging but is worthwhile, though typically all furnishings would be black with minimal dark red accents, such as red jade statuettes. Printed quilts might be black with red squares or storks decorating the bottom.
Traditional country style decorating with white headboards is easy to achieve, perhaps with a white wrought iron bed, and thick eiderdown quilts embroidered with flowers, ducks or cottage scenes. Painted white bedside tables set off the traditional look very nicely, though the stressed painted style is also appealing. Frame the headboard with bowls of pot-pourri on the side tables, and white cushions scattered over the pillows.
Most headboards stand straight, and depending on the style or material can be quite uncomfortable to lean against. Make sure you test your chosen headboard before buying, and consider looking for white headboards that incorporate a slight backwards angle that makes leaning more comfortable.
